You're Your Own Hero

When you said you fell out,
I thought it was a joke,
But you told me ‘twas true
And stabbed me with a fork.

So I grabbed the bread knife
And pierced your beating heart.
Our double-edged blade tongues
Had us both bleed a lot.

Mem’ries dripped before us,
Our happiness did, too,
And tomorrow’s blur made
Me loathe looking at you.

You were Dorian, the cruel,
I was Katrina, harsh.
We ravaged each other
Until tattooed with scars.

Yes, we survived the storm
But also lost our home.
So I wrote us a poem
To save me when alone.
