the less but good

when they said you can be anyone
they did not mean you can be no one
for you must be anything more and more
not anything less than you were before
but the question is, if we are all giants
who will do the great work of the ants?

if we are all stones and are hard
who’ll own the place of flexible sand
its ability to fill gaps pebbles can’t take
its power to flow and dauntlessness to break

so if there is a standing you wish to acquire
though they mock you, be teardrops in their fire
for life is something we can never explain
but to embrace all, even its sorrow and pain
considering a trade must be done for the calm
by letting me be i, the small but the good that i am
