by M. Douglas Hoss
We broke upon existence amid sunbeams as sharp as heaven,
Stirring foamy white mists afloat a crystal blue sea of stars.
We wore our pleasures like a shroud protecting our infinity
And cast away the thorns that stabbed beneath, between, afoot.
We beckoned one world after another "come"
Each one, a hope long dead, to live once more.
We pled our anguish upon an altar of woes
Bleeding their substance upon what once was auburn seas of sand.
We bid not "once" or "ever" to plague us anymore
As we kissed the long furrows of rolling glades goodbye.
We stretched our innocence upon a world with hope
Coursing purity in our veins long into forever.
We left nothing upon the past but wept over embers of nothing
Breathing into the future's soul our fever of tomorrow.
We cried out the echoes of us in their proclivity
Watching intently everything that dawned.
The end had come only for passing into obscurity
As new beginnings birthed themselves between a quiet smile.
A twinkle, a trickle became everything there is,
Living only as the playthings of eternal glee.
We held no more than love that grew between us
And sought only the sweet savor of our infinity.
We abated the banyans of despair grown throughout our ages
And thrived the most within the moment of a kiss.
