They call it “The Altar”
Because it raises up
For sacrifice
The willing, the wanton
And also the foolish
Who believed every
Little hope and dream
In some obvious lie
Each tells the other.
Maybe,
Just maybe,
They should have christened it
“The Alter” instead.
