Whenever the pounding surf
Keeps us awake,
We consider the option of monogamy.
And while the fog, the heat,
Is too thick to be less than real,
We admit that annihilation
Becomes a possibility.
But does it matter?
Do we care what happens
After the sea comes to rest
As long as it comes to rest
In us?
