looking to find modern mythology
in the descendants
of ancient playwrights, to see if
something rubbed off, was Aristotle
brown in color, no, it couldn’t be,
well, anyway, the new poets of god,
are making money, simply because the
poets were kept unemployed by some sleazy
characters throughout history,
where else could I find such
mythological realities, I wonder
if the greek scientists, who are
new board chairmen, were lighter in
skin than the playwrights, that
might explain, no, it couldn’t be ...
well, anyway, I love all greeks,
and all the colors they may wish
to add to this poem, but I always
think they are puerto ricans,
that’s why I only mythologize
in greek restaurants open
twenty-four hours a day
in new york.
