Drowning in the Dark ~ 1

It’s so easy to avoid and blame. You left and the phone did not ring since then.
I had none but beer bottles – empty.

It was easy to forget since I lost the key to the front door.
And I slept with all the agony in the world,
Only to wake up with a flapping sound over my ears –

You were making sure that I was not freezing on my shabby bed

Tapabrata Mukherjee, a Bi-lingual poet and short-story writer from West Bengal, India is fluent in both English and Bengali language. He has claimed his place among the Bengali-language translators with several of his translation works as well. Tapabrata has so far penned 10 books, including a collection of translated poems. He is a well-known name in the Bengali literary societies.
