by Robert Lloyd Jaffe
Oh, my wife,
if you only knew,
my eyes of brown
and my heart of blue,
and my ego bold,
and my logic cold
--and my words, that
only the misguided see
as true.
Maybe you have, or maybe
you will (or maybe it
goes deeper still);
but if you really can see within,
you’ll find my strength
is paper thin;
and when you think I rally
on a path, stone-laid,
it is just my trembling hand,
on an amulet of jade.
