About Piet Hein
Piet Hein (Copenhagen, December 16, 1905 - Fionia, April 17, 1996) was a Danish poet and scientist. He wrote many works under the pseudonym Kumbel. He invented the literary genre of grooks, short aphorisms in poetic form. In mathematics he is known for extending the superellipse to the third dimension (superellipsoid) and for inventing many puzzles. Piet Hein is famous for works such as the games Hex, Tangloids, Morra, Tower, Polytaire, TacTix, Nimbi and the Soma Cube, as well as thousands of his short poems he illustrated called Gruks.
