About Mary Barber

Mary Barber (1685-1755) was an irish poet under the patronage of Jonathan Swift. He named her and maintained that she was a great poet: (the best Poetess of both Kingdoms), though this assessment was not universally shared and she has only recently garnered much critical attention. Here are some of her most famous poems.
