About Langston Kerman
Langston Kerman is a Slam Poet and Actor who was raised in Oak Park, Illinois. His mother is African American and his father is white and Jewish. He received his bachelor's degree in English from University of Michigan in 2009. After college he taught poetry at his former high school for one year. Kerman later received an MFA in poetry at Boston University and then decided to pursue a full-time career in stand-up comedy. In 2003, he joined the Spoken Word Club at Oak Park/River Forest High School in Chicago and became a two-time member of their Louder Than a Bomb slam team. He found his voice through poetry, becoming one of the youngest winners of the Gwendolyn Brooks open mic competition. His poems have been published in the anthology Respect the Mic: Celebrating 20 Years of Poetry from a Chicagoland High School published by PenguinLangston Kerman is an American writer, and comedian. He is best known for portraying the role of Jared on HBO's Insecure. His first comedy album, Lightskinned Feelings, was released on September 28, 2018, the same day as his Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents special of the same name.
