About Kristina Rungano
Kristina Masuwa-Morgan is a Zimbabwean poet and short story writer, better known as Kristina Rungano. She was the first woman from Zimbabwe whose poems were published. Her first book of poetry, A Storm is Brewing, was published in 1984, making her the first Zimbabwean female poet whose work was published. Her poetry evokes in particular her experience as a woman, and the war. Some of her poems have subsequently been included in such anthologies as Daughters of Africa in 1992, The Heinemann Book of African Women's Poetry in 1995, The Penguin Book of Modern African Poetry in 1999, and Step into a World: A Global Anthology of New Black Literature in 2000.
