About Jesmyn Ward
Jesmyn Ward is an American writer. Coming from a large family, she was the first to benefit from a university scholarship. She holds a B.A. in English (1999) and an M.A. in Sociology of Communication and Media (2000) from Stanford University. In 2005, she earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. Her first novel, Where the Line Bleeds, published in 2008, earned her notice from American critics.She twice won the prestigious National Book Award: in 2011 for her second prose novel, Salvage the Bones and in 2017 for her sixth novel Sing, Unburied, Sing.
Jesmyn Ward is a professor of creative writing at the University of South Alabama.
