About Barbara Smith
Barbara Smith is a native of Armagh and currently lives in Drogheda, County Louth. She has been writing poetry for a number of years now, and regularly performs public recitals of her work. Kairos was Barbara's first publication from DOGHOUSE. In parallel to her interest in "all things poetic", Barbara has also been involved in amateur dramatics and in various writing groups. In 2009, she received the Annie Deeny Prize and a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre. In the same year, she won a prize at Wigtown Poetry Competition (Scotland) and was short-listed for the Poetry Business pamphlet competition and the Basil Bunting Poetry Competition. Barbara has published poetry in Riposte, VirtualWriter and Electric Acorn in Ireland, as well as in nthposition.com, Sentinel Poetry (online) and The Coffee House (UK), Garm Lu (Canada), Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review and Portrait (US) and TMR (India).
