About Ama Codjoe
Ama Codjoe is an African-American contemporary poet. She was raised in Youngstown, Ohio with roots in Memphis and Accra. She is the author of Bluest Nude published by Milkweed Press in 2022, and Blood of the Air published by Northwestern University Press in 2020 and winner of the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Poetry Prize. Many of her poems have also appeared in journals and magazines like Gulf Coast Online, Virginia Quarterly Review, and Callaloo. She has also received a 2017 Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award, a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship.
