Read Alice Walker best poems: Alice Walker is an American poet and writer. Her first book of poetry was written while she was a senior at Sarah Lawrence. She wrote the critically acclaimed novel The Color Purple (1982) for which she won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She also wrote Meridian and The Third Life of Grange Copeland among other works.
