Finding freedom from invisible bonds

Two young girls riding bicycles
On the dusty suburban street,
School bags strapped on their backs,
Shrieking in pure delight,
Racing furiously and
Dodging dogs and unruly bikes
Driven by youngsters on a high,
Chasing each other,
These two girls, close friends,
On the pot-holed street,
Happy to fly at their pace,
Smiling, despite the bumpy rough ride,
Cleaving a way through the
Swirling dust-devil and littered garbage,
Enjoying a rare moment of freedom otherwise denied,
Running with the wind on their ladies- cycles,
Free, light, soaring, coordinating
Very much like the fluttering jungle butterflies.
