Lovers in a Dangerous Time

That period between day and dusk
Night speeding to close in
Day fast on the run
Confused at light or darkness
The line in between, let's love

That period between night and dawn
Morning running in
Night running out
Mesmerized by the crowing lost and the settling dew
The time in between, let us father love.

Of day and dusk in fields unmanned
When the sun runs for its life, but moon is scarce
The cameras dull without a flash
Visible but not visible
That period between, let's love.

Of night and dawn in squeaking beds
When the moon is found guilty and sentenced away, but sun is still fast asleep
The stars in reverse order end duty
Invisible but not too out of sight
That moment filled with heat, cold heat; let's love.

We stand at the threshold of our lives
A moment when history meets posterity
A day when tomorrow meets yesterday
To right the wrongs of years gone past
Or wrong the rights of years to come, let's make love.

The courage needed by pouring grace
The docilty woken by unlimited greed
The sentiments whipped by looters' till, let's teach love.

The moment is here to love and fight
The time has come to power the passion
That unchained spirit cursing our land
Corruption called, let's fight it now and here, let's love unhindered.

The thin line between day and dusk
The thin line between night and dawn
The sun and moon in motions sweep
The stars provide alibi for each degree, let's love.

Nigeria is ours to make or mar
Nigeria is ours to keep and love.
Let's love now that is dangerous
Else we die in safety unbelieved.
We are lovers in a dangerous time, let's still love!
