Outside
the neighbours' cat is sprawled out on the garden table.
When the branch fell off the tree, it made an almighty noise,
says Mum.
René nudged me and said, what's that?
So we went downstairs to investigate.
The cat's ears twitch.
The fish tastes good, says Mum.
The cat looks as if he's purring.
When the branch fell off the tree, it made an almighty noise,
says Mum.
But René was sleeping, so I didn't wake him up
and he left this morning when it was dark,
he didn't see the branch.
The cat rolls over.
Nice fish, says Mum.
And René's picture smiles on the mantelpiece.
