shuffles the green
grinning at his reward as his
guilty client walks
nights turned sleep into
revealing a dawn of
unspoken formidable laws
justice provided a promotion
humbling a gesture to
money’s ice cream as
handshakes unravel chains
jingling child-widower tears as
unsolved bodies lay buried

Andrea Laws currently resides in Lawrence, KS. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008, with a BA in English and a BA in Film Studies.
