by Robert Lloyd Jaffe
It was a tough choice
on that day,
just trying to aim the right way.
I know that she has shrunk,
but how much,
I could not say—
like a coward, I hesitated
before I would pay.
One would think
I had learned;
that day while grasping
my lifeless father,
thinking him tall—
but my arms told the truth
of a man
who was small.
