The impasse has so widened
That you do not even wish,
To see my face for a while;
Yet we co-exist,
Back to back like a coin,
In a never thought of before
Wretched predicament;
I still feel your throb,
Feel our connection pulsate,
Systolics and diastolics
Of a strung relation;
Peaks and waves
Of a pounding rhythm:
Converting to a prescription
Of tablets and syrups
Before and after meals;
It moans, it gasps,
It aphyxiates,
Not because it’s breaking,
Not because it cannot snap:
But because
I shall not allow,
The edifice of our love,
To become an issue
Of unresolving argument
In homes and joints,
In parks and malls;
Or a hashed controversy
Of a historic attraction;
Why should any Guide
Point out to others,
Another example
Of a devastated love!
Where dreams have shattered,
Vows and promises have faded
Into an indissoluble miasma;
Ah! Hope should not die:
Return my smile with a smile,
Let your cheeks rouge,
With that pink blush
Which has always endeared me;
Yes, together we can
Rearrange the scattered posy,
Warm up cold shoulders,
Remove those unseen barbs
That bleeds us stiff and stops us
From a cozy hug and embrace,
Which for a distant viewer
Shall be not us, but
A creeper-entwined tree,
Pulse, beats, throbs
Inviolably synchronized!
Veiling heterogeneity
Under the starry counterpane;
Let’s remove the tangled
Cobwebs of misunderstanding
From the suffocating skylet
Of an honest relationship,
Allowing the sunlight to filter in
Illumining the remaining path
Which we can tread together
Once again, once again,
Let your faintest smile be
The strongest blow to impasse,
The strongest blow
Let’s rearrange our lives
Together again,
Together…..
