by Paul Martínez Pompa
the bus fills & empties like an aluminum lung. what he says
I lose. in the clamor of. gears. bodies. words
obsolete when you see how. she breathes him. how he is
draped in the orchestra of her. fingers. untouched
by this. city of broken lo vers who slip across
the bus Window. no I cannot hear what he mouths.
I watch the clamor. youth & desire fleeing
their seats. remember when we were young. bold
enough to love that hard. tust was our eyes. closed.
our mouths undoing each other's. bodies. I'm exposed
when he catches me. eyes set to cut. how he softens
when she cups his cheek. turns it back. to her.
