by Mariano Brull
His body echoed in the mirror
vertebrate in distant images:
one and multiple, thick, reflective
reverse now immediately before.
He entered from a previous escape to the left
of himself, in throbbing returns,
retained, scattered, between the eyebrows
Two voices, two eyes, two moments.
His entire presence was—in his presence—
dilated to the next handhold
of the imminent beginning of another absence:
unbroken course of trailless space
to the immobile chance of his love,
statue of his coming body!
