She came over again
and looked at the photo
in the old pewter frame.
A family member
near and dear
is what she sees.
I'm glad she doesn't know
the history of the frame:
all the old girlfriends
that showed smiles
through the glass,
now buried memories
in a drawer.
My favorite frame,
always in view of everyone
that walks in.
Hopefully, one day
her smile will grace the frame,
and I trust she understands
how big of a deal it is to me.
