Even
the twilight has no knowledge
of your neo rhythms. Why twilight?
because it is the blood of light
and must keep love's weanings in;
So it does not matter that in washed away
caves of meaning unsaid, your recessed tides
recant the fables of my blossoming flesh;
and though in that memory, every leaf counts
in time though it shelters the birds and bees
and is a tall tree for the storms and can stay
memory is still memory for you and me;
And even the twilight that does not know
the meanings you carved out of love's slaughter
and thought you won it all in the end,
who lost, who gave in, who'll give away still
this you will think, toss your graying hair about,
and upon your pillow carve,
hills and mountains, in that twilight flow
you wish you crossed,
as you now sink slow, and away, away, into sleep.
