I basked,
in assured abundance,
took in an orchid,
an eagle,
charting,
the blue,
canopy,
ornate,
marble,
steel,
buildings,
I saw,
cities within cities,
transformation,
of peoples,
who in earlier,
times,
were,
paupers,
or ,
dreamers,
children,
who now,
are leaders,
states women,
men,
but,
I noticed,
there were,
so many birds,
of only a,
select plumage.

ABOUT THE POET ~
Tom Mukasa is a recipient of the Anne Frank Human Rights Award. He lives in San Francisco, California USA, enjoys country-walks, volunteers with social development organizations. He has a passion for working in the laboratory and with teams working towards the cure of HIV. He is the co-founder of the Global Social Justice Action Against Xenophobia (JAXp).
