by Elizabeth Wartemberg
It spun around tenderly
With its dreadfully long limbs
Low profile status and
high class friends
It was a soap opera
Day in and day out
Day in
They prance about in a nude state
Not knowing their coming fate
Not knowing the great python
that will soon devour them
Not knowing the great horror
that carelessness could bring
If A is for arrow
and H is for hollow
How shallow can be the arrow
that injures the weak and the proud
The prude and the shrewd
A never-ending tale of gluttony
Day out
It screams out a rage with passion
In a rather ill-mannered fashion
It shows no compassion
Demanding – never ending – ascending
It drains the body
It strangles the soul of eternity
Until it is no more but a withered petal
A one-eyed phoenix soars the skies
Blood rains
Life is untamed
A master of deception
Tamed but untamed
Not conscious but self-conscious
Sure, but unsure
True but untrue
Caring but cruel
Secretly vain with a guarded tongue
A tongue when unleashed
will cut like whiplash.
Overbearing but handsome
Controlling but gentle
Eager but tiring
Jealous but entertaining
It looks blue, it seems blue
but it feels red
Red with rage, red with passion
It at times comes with a soothing tune
Like the humming of a blue bird
This fills the soul with warmth
A dark type of warmth
The warmth you feel
when you gaze into the trusting
brown eyes of a lover
It is sincere but painful
The sound of the depressing blues
A sound which is meant to
ease away the pain
To drown the sorrows
of the weak at heart
It is such a deadly but warm feeling
Like gazing into the eyes of
a brown-eyed devil.
